St. Francis Xavier English Medium School

St. Francis Xavier English Medium School is a Catholic institution established and administered by the Catholic Diocese of Asansol. The National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions [F.No.1693 of 2006] has recognized its status as a Minority Institution. The school was started in the year 1999 by Rev. Fr. Lawrence Pinto as a Nursery School in St. Francis Xavier Church premise, later in the year 2001 Rev. Fr Dolphy Hilary Mathias started primary section. Rev. Fr. Aloysius Vanigasooriyar began High School in the year 2005 and in the year 2007 the school was shifted to present site which was donated by Late Sukumar Bowmick. Rev Fr. Arbind Tirkey, the Headmaster and Rev Fr. Valerian Fernandes, the secretary of the school, through their tireless hard work have obtained the State government NOC during their tenure. Fr. Roshan Suares with his hardwork finally got the affiliation on May, 2018 from ICSE Board New Delhi. The institution has the vision to bloom in to Higher Secondary School in the coming days.

This Minority Institution was established under the rights and powers granted to religious and linguistic minorities by the constitution of India (Art. 21 and 30). The Catholic Diocese of Asansol is the founder body of this Institution.

St. Francis Xavier English Medium School is Catholic School primarily meant for Catholic children. It admits children of other communities irrespective of caste, creed or language. It is an English medium co-educational school aiming at high academic excellence. Efforts are made to help the students to achieve all round development. Emphasis is laid on self-discipline and character formation with good moral and spiritual training to face today’s evermore competitive world and its demands. The aim of the school is “To train the students to be better citizens of tomorrow in thought, word and action.”

The school prepares students for the I.C.S.E. [Indian Certificate of Secondary Education] Examination, conducted by the council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi. It is recognized by the Universities all over India. This examination ensures a general education without premature specialization as all candidates are required to appear for all the subjects. The medium of instruction is English, with Hindi/Bengali as 2nd or 3rd language.
